Orthopedic Injury Taping

Therapeutic tape (or kinesiology tape) is constructed of fine, breathable, stretchable material, usually cotton or a cotton blend. It is most widely used for athletic injuries, but there are benefits to using it for orthopedic injuries as well. The tape stabilizes an injured area by adhering to the skin and applying light pressure to the tissues around which the tape is wrapped. The goal of therapeutic taping is to support the body while allowing fluids to move freely within the fascia, through and around an injured muscle. It gently allows an increased flow of blood and lymphatic fluid to cleanse and heal inflammation. This special tape helps to improve circulation, support muscles, allow the internal injury to heal, and help prevent further muscle injury while still allowing motion
